oh the cruel irony....

There are things in life that happen that make us wonder. Why?

This is a tale of two nations. Two Bronco Nations.

Early hours of 1 January 2007: Darrent Williams, the Denver Broncos starting cornerback and one of the up and coming stars in the NFL, is doing the right thing. After a night out partying, he calls one of his friends to get him a ride home. His friend gets an H2 stretch limo for him and a few friends.

Drinking and driving is never the answer. Darrent knows this.

The vehicle pulls up to a stop light, waiting for it to change.

A white Tahoe pulls up next to the limo, firing shots into it.

Darrent and 2 others are hit. The other 2 are treated and released from the hospital, but Darrent isn't as lucky. Time of death: 2:30 A.M.

Late hours of 1 January 2007: The Boise State Broncos, playing in their first ever BCS Bowl game, have been playing hard all night, and are in overtime with the Oklahoma Sooners.

Coming from behind yet again, the Broncos have just scored a touchdown, are down by 1, and decide to go for 2.

Ian Johnson, the star running back, takes the handoff and runs around the left end, into the end zone.

The Broncos Win.

The other Broncos Lose.

How is it that on the same day, one team has its most tragic day, and one team has its most triumphant day?

And their nicknames are both Broncos?

Its the rules of nature, everything must have its opposite. White and Black, Yin and Yang, Matter and Antimatter.

This is no different.

The only difference is the scale.

Sad one moment and happy the next.

Opposites.

Darrent Williams: 1982-2007
It was fun, to say the least
May you Rest In Peace
